what about people who drive on the shoulder because traffic is backed up? They think they are privileged and get to bypass traffic while the rest of the suckers have to wait.
Or the people who wait till the very last second to merge so they can get 1 or 2 cars ahead, forcing their way in between 2 cars when there is no space between them.
Of course it goes the other way too. Sometimes the overly safe and cautious drivers piss my off more than the reckless ones. I know safety first people, but I would like to get to my destination sometime before the end of my lifetime.
I will ignore the Maple Leafs hat…GO BRUINS! (Even if the ‘Canes kicked our butt last night!).
Moving on, I cannot stand idiots that can’t use their signal lights!!! It drives me up the wall and I believe I have screamed at them many a time! They surely do not help my road rage!
There was a comedian who had something funny in his routine about turn signals…the line that keeps coming to mind is “what’s that clickin’ noise?”…in reference to someone actually having the audacity to employ their turn signal…imagine that, actually using their turn signal!
Jack, I’m with you. There aren’t many of us, I guess, as I had to listen to my husband teasing me in the car for using mine, he was just going “click, click, click, click” in time with my cars turn signal.
I have a funny story to go along with this. Recently my mom and I went to an appointment and it was a two hour trip to get there. The entire time, my mom didn’t use her blinker. I kept pestering her to use it and she got sarcastic, using it every two seconds while she was in a parking lot.
During the last two miles to get to our house, a police man pulls us over and asks my mom if she knows why she got pulled over. Sure enough it was because she failed to use her blinker. TWICE! The entire time this is going on I was trying not to burst out laughing. What are the odds that she’d get pulled over the same day I lectured her on using her blinker.
So for all those people out there who say you never get pulled over for not using your blinker, you’re wrong!
I’m right there with ya on this one Jack! It drives me crazy when people don’t use their turn signals. And it’s even worse when they change lanes without signalling!!!
I usually point at the missing blinker side and shout “Your turn signal is broken” Dumb, I know, but it irks me to no end when they do that.
Also hate when they use the turn lane as a passing lane to cut ahead of people waiting to go straight. (But that has less to do with single-handed driving and more to do with being rude, obnoxious jerks.)
I agree with you both on the turn signal issue and on the cell phone issue but you have to admit that plenty of people didn’t signal even before cell phones were around, much less common.
Hit another one on the head. I have been saying for some time that how courteous society is is directly proportional to turn signal use!
I’m waiting to leave a driveway, what’s the car doing that is approaching, darn turning in so I could have gone had they signaled, instead I’ll just wait…. ARGGGG!
I also love the ones that will change lanes and then forget to turn off their signal and you get behind them and wonder if they are going to change lanes or not. of course after a couple of minutes you figure out that they just didn’t turn it off.
I would love to see people today with the cell phones and the texting try to use hand signals like we did in the good old days.
Definitely my fave Rant so far. I turn green every time someone cuts me up from a side road, and I have to slow down to avoid rear ending them. Also, those people who start to move at a green light, then drive too close to the car in front and keep stopping and starting, soooo annoying. Jack, your rants should definitely be aired on TV as public awareness broadcasts:D
What really makes me mad are those that drive in the passing lane going slower than those in the slow lane; so now you have two people going just about the same speed in both lanes holding up all the traffic. It just really drives me nuts when people do that.

Amen to that,

People are just inconsiderate.

Jack,
Why are you wearing a Toronto Maple Leaves hat? I thought you were a Carolina fan?

I believe the comedian you’re talking about Cindy is Henry Cho. I like him a lot even if his sense of humor is bone dry. Oh, an excellent rant Jack.

Jack you should post a list of all your upcoming rants in advance. We know you have one!

I’m with you on that Jack!

Over and out!

I agree this is the best rant so far. I moved to the Raleigh area 3 years ago and nobody uses blinkers here.

I have had people that signal and then don’t turn, or pass the intersection and then go on the the shoulder.
